While it's technically possible to use Localytics with tag management services, there are some important differences between apps and websites that reduce the benefits of using tag management inside native apps.
More intelligent processing and decisioning happens within apps (compared to websites), such as persistent device identification, managing backgrounding and sessions, recording events and related attributes, and enabling push, in-app, and inbox messages. HTML overlay solutions therefore require custom work to translate native app analytics into web analytics. As a result, tag management solutions typically bundle the Localytics SDK with other analytics and marketing SDKs. The bundled SDK still needs to be updated as Localytics releases new capabilities. Tagging is effectively doubled: once in the app data layer and again in the tag management web interface.
