Android devices typically have marketing names that differ from how the hardware and OS self-identify; sometimes even for the same hardware across regions. Localytics reports up the OS's Build.MANUFACTURER
and Build.MODEL
, and we map some common devices back to user-friendly names at ingest time. For less common devices, newer devices we haven't mapped yet, or devices with several variants that we think our customers might want to be able to split or filter by, you can search directly by the lower-level self-reported hardware model data instead.
For Google Play devices, you can typically find this data in Google's published device list - for example, the phone that went to market as the LG Electronics M1 would report up in data as the "LG-K332."
