Overview
Places messages (more commonly known a Geopush messages) are messages that appear on an end users phone when they enter a predetermined geofence. Unlike push messages, Places message are synced with the user’s app ever 24 hours, and the device pulls up the Places message when they enter the geofence.
An end user does not need to have push notifications turned on in order to receive Places messages—just location services available to your app (though, it’s probably good practice to ensure both are true, to maintain your end user’s trust).
Places Creative
Building a creative for your Places message is very similar to building a Push notification in Localytics. You’ll be able to pick an optional Creative name (helpful if you’re A/B testing, or want to do further analysis down the road), and customize the message. You can also add deep links to point your end users to a certain section of your app.
And again, you can add a Category, Key/Value Pair, and custom sound.

Choosing Your Geofence
After you’ve built your creative, you’ll need to choose your geofences. There is no limit to the number of geofences you can target for a given message—but it’s good practice to make your messages targeted and relevant to your end users.
In the Places section of your Dashboard (or via the API), you should have added your geofences to Localytics.
To choose a geofence you’ve uploaded, simply begin to type one of the custom tags (which can include multiple geofences), or begin typing the address. If you’re not sure, you can scroll through the drop-down menu to find the name of your geofence instead. If you’ve added the geofence correctly, you should see the fence appear. Choose as many as you’d like.
Next, you’ll want to pick if the message should trigger for the end user On Enter of the geofence or On Exit of the geofence.
When you’ve added all of your Geofences, your next step is to Schedule your message—click the Continue to Scheduling button to head to the next step.
