Overview
Scheduling a Places message is different than scheduling a push message. Since the message is triggered based on a user entering/exiting a specific geofence, the message isn’t sent to the device but is rather displayed when the event is triggered. So your scheduling step is simply setting rules for when and where the message should display.
If a user in the qualifying Audiences doesn’t trigger a geofence while the message is active, they won’t receive the Places message.
Frequency
Like with other messages, you can limit the number of times a Places message appears for your end user. Within Localytics, we call this Frequency.
Under the Frequency header, you’ll see a few options:
- Display only once per device
- Display each time the device qualifies
- Limit to ____ total messages ever
- Limit to ____ messages per ____ days
- Ensure messages are at least ____ days apart
Frequency allows you to better limit the total number of messages your end user receives—so that you’re not inundating them with messages. Even your most power users don’t want to be notified every time they enter their favorite store.
If your message is recurring, we recommend setting a limit to the number of messages a user can receive in total.
Begin
You can also set a start and stop time for your message. Under the Begin option you’ll see:
- When activated
- At a scheduled time
Set a start time if you’d like to activate and confirm your message before the message appears for your users. Otherwise, choose the when activated option.
End
Choose an end time for your message with the following options:
- When manually stopped
- At a scheduled time
If the message is recurring, keep it active until it is manually stopped. Otherwise, set a scheduled stop time.
Next up, it’s time to activate your message. Click Continue to Confirm to head to the next step!
